Agusan River Basin Mangrove Wildlife Conservation Network

The Goal

The Agusan River Basin Mangrove Wildlife Conservation Network is composed of volunteers dedicated to the protection of the environment and the conservation of the natural resources of the Agusan River Basin in the Philippines. We primarily aim to actively increase the awareness and encourage participation of the local communities to the conservation efforts. We deem it highly significant to conduct these initiatives as present and future anthropogenic activities in the river basin are posing high potential negative impacts to the environment.

The Strategies

Given the multitude of problems present in the Agusan River Basin, the proponent targets to achieve the main aim by conducting the following actions:

Action 1: Provide venues to disseminate the current status of the Agusan River and its resources;

Action 2: Create channels of communication where stakeholders can express their concerns and problems;

Action 3: Enhance the capacity of local communities to monitor their own resources; and

Action 4: Establish the Agusan River Basin Mangrove-Wildlife Conservation Network in Butuan City and other provinces encompassed by the river basin.
